Audition report--

This one went well, too. It's an odd feeling to have a commercial audition go well because I develop a feeling of excitement that this could be the one that breaks the curse and then most often I don't hear from them ever again (just like when it goes badly) and I feel even more like I'm missing some key ingredient to my personality that would allow me to get one of these things they call commercials.

There was a lot of copy today, which usually works in my favor. It was a monologue delivered to the camera about new Bowl Creations from Healthy Choice. Lisa Pantone, the casting director, emphasized keeping it real (as she always does, and which is the title of her book about auditioning for commercials), and suggested moving around and keeping it free flowing. But then she sat me down on the end of a table for the audition. So now I'm seated and it feels like it would be awkward to get up and move about. In a stroke of genius, I untie my shoes and then while delivering the first half of the monologue, I tie them back up. It's the perfect distraction and the monologue comes out sounding natural and conversational. I loved it. So did Lisa.

Isn't it time that someone else finally did, too.
