These auditions frustrate me a little. I like them better because they have a lot of copy. You don't have to go into the office and talk about what happened when you were 11 and you got you first kiss. Today's commercial audition was a nice, juicy one.
So then I get frustrated because I wish I had the luxury of looking the material over before hand and working on ideas and rehearsing. Instead, I walked in today, filled out a size sheet, and had only a few minutes to look over the four different scenes before they called me in. (I did ask for and get more time, but it was only a couple extra minutes.)
The scenes went well. The character was supposed to be an over-eager ultra-efficient toll booth operator who occasionally lets his "power" go this head. They could be cute spots. The director gave me lots of notes and we tried a bunch of takes of three of the four spots. Possibly, but I doubt it.
