Audition report--

I have not auditioned for Heidi Levitt since the great Class of '96 audition of lo these five years ago, maybe almost six by now. Her assistant Monika Mikklesen, has always been nice to me on the phone and stuff, though, and today she called me in for the hip spokesperson for National Thoroughbred Racing. It's for a couple of spots and came in through my commercial agent.

The frist spot the hip guy is talking to the camera about racing and how exciting it is. It was supposed to be delivered off the cuff, very matter-of-fact, and, well, hip. That went fine. My hipness quotient only goes so high and then I start to shimmie and blow.

The second spot was kind of funny. It's a crowd scene during the last 30 seconds of a race and everyone is gong crazy. Everyone, that is, except for hip guy, who is slowly making his way toward the finish line saying nothing but, "Go baby. Go baby. Go baby." over nad over and over and over. Then at the end of the race he just as calmly says, "Yes. Yes. Yes." I did the damn best I could, damn it.
