An industrial, for those unfamiliar with the term, is a video or film to be shown only within a company's ranks or at seminars/conventions/etc. This particular industrial, for example, is a training film for movie concession employees. The main thrust of the video is that the workers need to be attentive to their customers and practice "suggestive selling" to try to get them to buy more stuff. In doing so, the seller wins prizes with the Coca-Cola logo on them or something.
Industrials are certainly the bottom of the acting barrel and still covered by the union. I imagine shooting a karaoke video might be worse, say, but they are not union jobs as far as I know. So this is what I have been reduced to at my commercial agency, the industrial. Not only is that all I have read for this entire month, but they didn't even call me for it until this morning. They probably had some people scheduled for it who are slightly less useless to the agency and one of them couldn't do it.
So I'm playing for the farm team and I guess if I don't start putting up some numbers, i'll have to be let go. I'm not sure I could find another team that would want me. Hopefully I'll at least have a good at-bat out of this one and get a callback. It's been so, so long.
