Day 1 -- Thursday, December 20 Day One was Day Only and by the end of it more appropriately named Day One-Half. 8am call time down in Manhattan Beach at David Kelley Studios, a state-of-the-art facility built for The Practice, Ally McBeal, Boston Public, and any other Boston-based television show the mind of David Kelley can create. It's a long way away but for one day on a fun show I can rally. My scene was up first, so no waiting. I got into wardrobe, put on some make-up, walked on to the set and we began. The only regular in my scene was Greg Germann, known to the television viewing public as Fish. The first couple of lines were with the prosecuting attorney and then the bulk of the scene was Peterson v. Fish. The topic of our conversation: sexual harassment. It seems the "lovely" Claire Otoms was hitting on many of the men in the office, thus making them uncomfortable at work. My point was that if she were "hot" it wouldn't have been a problem. Ms. Otoms, in fact, is not only un-hot, but aggressively so. |
It was a fun little scene and the morning went very smoothly. There was only one hiccup when the director told me not to smile so much during the questioning. After trying one more take he returned to my side and advised me to ignore his previous direction. "I ruined it," he said, though technically I would argue that I may have been the one who ruined it. Everything else flowed very well after that. It was very fun and very short. Before the group had even broke for lunch, they were done with me. Back in the car for the long drive back to civilization.
Success!
